STEMerica moves on: an educational workshop at the STEM festival at the Centre for Education

The STEM festival, which will be held on 17 November 2025 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., offers a chance to explore the secrets of science in a fun and interactive way. The event will take place at the Secondary School - Centre for Education at Zagorska ulica 14, Zagreb.

The FabLab association, with its “STEMerica moves on” project, is proud to take part in this event by organising the “A Trace in the Ink” workshop. In this workshop participants will explore the secrets of fingerprints through experiments, learn how prints are left on different surfaces and compare them with traces found at a crime scene. Through hands-on tasks, children will discover how prints are unique to each person and how they are used in forensic investigations for identification.

In the second part of the workshop, young investigators will use the paper chromatography technique to analyse ink traces found on suspect objects, comparing the ink traces of different pens and discovering which trace was left by the real “culprit”.

“STEMerica moves on” is a three-year project aimed at popularising science, technology, engineering and mathematics among children and young people across Croatia. The project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus, with the support of the Office for Cooperation with NGOs of the Government of the Republic of Croatia.

You can find out more about the project on the official website stemerica.fablab.hr, and follow the activities via the Facebook pages STEMerica moves on and FabLab Hrvatska.

Join us at this educational festival, where science and fun will go hand in hand!
