The Grobnik STEM Festival once again brings together everyone who loves science, technology, engineering and mathematics, with a series of interactive and educational activities. This month the festival is enriched by the Christmas atmosphere at the Kaštel, which creates a sense of magic and evokes the spirit of the holidays through STEM education. The FabLab association, recognised for its innovative educational projects, continues its successful work with the “STEMerica moves on” project, and the December programme promises a blend of scientific fun and Christmas spirit. The workshops take place on 4, 11 and 18 December 2025 at Trg Zrinskih i Frankopana 1, Grobnik (at the historic location of the Grobnik branch school, in the Centre for Creativity and the Popularisation of Science).
Grobnik will be filled with a range of workshops and activities, among which the cryptography workshop stands out in particular. Through this workshop, participants will be able to dive deeper into the world of data security and encryption. From discovering the history of encrypting messages to solving mathematical challenges, engaging games and challenges will give visitors the chance to learn through fun, all in the spirit of the coming holidays.
STEM activities allow children, young people and adults to explore the world of science and technology in a creative and interactive way. In a rapidly digitalising society, understanding STEM is becoming key for future generations.
How to get involved?
Anyone interested can take part without prior registration, and all activities are free. Visitors will also have the chance to learn about other projects and initiatives that FabLab runs in Croatia. For more information about the programme and the workshops, visitors can visit the official STEMerica website or the “STEMerica moves on” Facebook page.
The project is implemented under the call “Strengthening the capacity of civil society organisations to promote STEM” (code SF.2.4.06.04.0122), with the support of the European Union and the Government of the Republic of Croatia, through the European Social Fund Plus. The aim is to empower civil society organisations that contribute to popularising STEM and to building a digitally literate society.
