On 3 June 2026, a STEM corner was held at the Hrašćina branch school (Vladimir Nazor Primary School Budinščina) as part of the Astro camp, an event dedicated to popularising astronomy and the STEM fields among children and young people. Vladimir Nazor Primary School Budinščina is a partner in the „STEMerica moves on“ project, through which pupils are able to take part in numerous free STEM activities, workshops and public events.
The hall was full of good atmosphere, curious pupils and interesting STEM activities that sparked imagination, creativity and a spirit of inquiry. Through their encounter with digital technologies, the children discovered what can be created when knowledge is combined with creativity and innovative thinking.
The planetarium also drew particular attention, offering pupils a unique journey through space. Observing the stars, the planets and other celestial bodies, participants explored the secrets of the universe in an interesting and accessible way and got to know the fascinating world of astronomy more closely.
The large-format building blocks made of light, safe foam were another big hit. By assembling different structures according to their own ideas, participants developed creativity, fine motor skills, spatial thinking and teamwork skills. Through designing and building various shapes together, they learned to cooperate, solve problems and turn their ideas into reality.
We thank all the pupils, teachers and visitors whose participation contributed to the excellent atmosphere and once again showed how much fun, how inspiring and how accessible to everyone STEM can be. 🙂
The „STEMerica moves on“ project is run by the FabLab association with the aim of popularising the STEM fields among children and young people through workshops, public events and experiential learning. The activities are free for participants and encourage the development of knowledge, skills and an interest in STEM. The STEMerica moves on project is implemented under the grant call „Strengthening the capacity of civil society organisations to promote STEM“ (project code SF.2.4.06.04.0122), co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus and the Office for Cooperation with NGOs of the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
