This year Advent in Grobnik brings a special blend of festive atmosphere and scientific curiosity. During Advent week, on 17 and 19 December 2025, Kaštel Grobnik becomes a meeting place for science, technology, creativity and community through STEM DAY, an event intended for children, young people and all curious visitors.
In the warm Christmas atmosphere of this historic location, participants can look forward to a series of interactive and educationalSTEM activities that bring the world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics closer in an accessible and entertaining way. The programme takes place in the Centre for Creativity and the Popularisation of Science at Trg Zrinskih i Frankopana 1, Grobnik, in the building of the former Grobnik branch school.
The event is organised by the FabLab Hrvatska association as part of the „STEMerica moves on“ project, which continuously brings innovative STEM content to local communities. The Advent STEM DAY has been designed specifically to combine learning through play, experimentation and the festive spirit, creating an environment in which science is accessible and inspiring for all generations.
One of the highlights is the cryptography workshop, in which participants will explore how messages are hidden and protected, from historical ciphers to modern digital methods. Through logic tasks, mathematical challenges and interactive games, visitors will have the chance to learn in a dynamic and entertaining way, in keeping with the Advent mood.
STEM DAY in Grobnik highlights the importance of developing digital and scientific competences, especially at a time of accelerating digitalisation, and encourages curiosity, creative thinking and active participation in learning.

Participation is free and requires no prior registration. In addition to the workshops, visitors will be able to find out more about other projects and initiatives that FabLab Hrvatska runs across the country. The project is implemented under the call „Strengthening the capacity of civil society organisations to promote STEM“ (SF.2.4.06.04.0122), with the financial support of the European Union and the Government of the Republic of Croatia, through the European Social Fund Plus, with the aim of strengthening the role of civil society organisations in popularising STEM and building a digitally literate society.
