At the invitation of the Dubrovnik Technical Culture Association, FabLab had the chance to visit Blato on the island of Korčula, where we held workshops at the Blato Cultural Centre. In this inspiring historic setting, some twenty children were shown skills ranging from robotics (DU STEM) and sustainability and the circular economy (BIOPLAnet) to, of course, digital fabrication (STEMerica).

As part of the STEMerica project, the youngsters got to know digital fabrication, the field FabLab nurtures and the focus of the STEMerica project. On Korčula specifically we demonstrated work with the vinyl cutter and made individual objects and, while those were being produced, we also got the young participants interested in virtual reality using Oculus headsets and an app for 3D modelling and drawing in virtual space.
