On Saturday, 22 August 2026, the FabLab association took part in Bartoja in Čavle with the „STEMerica moves on“ project, where from 17:30 to 20:00 we filled the gathering with STEM activities, exploration and learning through play.
The turnout was excellent, with a large number of children and their families, and the cryptography workshop drew particular interest. Our young researchers got to know the world of ciphers and secret messages, worked through a variety of tasks and discovered how information can be encoded and decoded.
Alongside cryptography, the children also enjoyed building structures with foam construction blocks, where imaginative buildings took shape through play, creativity and working together.
A cheerful atmosphere, plenty of curious questions and great interest from the children marked yet another STEM gathering. Thank you to everyone who joined us at the STEM island in Čavle! 💡

The „STEMerica moves on“ project is run by the FabLab association with the aim of popularising the STEM fields among children and young people through workshops, public events and experiential learning. The activities are free for participants and encourage the development of knowledge, skills and an interest in STEM. The „STEMerica moves on“ project is implemented under the grant call „Strengthening the capacity of civil society organisations to promote STEM“ (project code SF.2.4.06.04.0122), co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus and the Office for Cooperation with NGOs of the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
