Join the free STEM activities across Croatia

Through the „STEMerica moves on“ project, the FabLab association continues in 2026 to bring science, technology, engineering and mathematics closer to children, young people and the wider public through free workshops, public events and other interactive activities across Croatia.

The aim of the activities is to let participants get to know the STEM fields in an accessible, engaging and practical way – through exploration, experimentation, problem solving, creative work and the use of modern technologies. By taking part in the activities, children and young people develop scientific, mathematical, technical and digital competences, as well as curiosity, independence, cooperation and creative thinking.

STEM activities in different parts of Croatia

Since the beginning of 2026, in the first six months alone, the FabLab association and the „STEMerica moves on“ project have taken part in numerous public events, festivals and gatherings in different parts of Croatia: STEM fest Grobnik, the Night of Museums in Grobnik, the Night of Museums at the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, Carnival STEM, STEM on the coast in Mali Lošinj, Pula and Krk, STEM-ovci at King Cross, the STEM weekend in the Town of Grobnik, the HUKI STEAM festival, STEM at Opatovina, Science Evening in Pregrada, STEM days at the Čavlić kindergarten, Astro fest in Budinščina, STEM FEST(IVAL) in Donji Andrijevci, the Garešnica Infinity Festival, STEM day Čavle and STEM day Grobnik. These events drew a large number of participants and showed how much interest in the STEM fields is growing across the generations.

The public has the opportunity to take part in a total of 40 events held across Croatia each year, which makes an exceptional contribution to spreading knowledge and bringing science closer to all ages. In addition, 81 workshops will be held in educational institutions every year. At the activities in public spaces it is possible to take part in creative workshops such as “Cryptography”, “A trace in the ink”, workshops dealing with digital technology and similar, while in primary schools the “Cryptography” workshops are held.

Information about upcoming workshops and public events, along with dates, locations and how to take part, is published regularly via:

The „STEMerica moves on“ project is aimed at strengthening the capacity of civil society organisations to deliver high-quality, interactive STEM activities that bring science, technology, engineering and mathematics closer to children, young people and the wider public. The project includes professional development and mentoring activities in cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Zagreb, as well as study visits and participation in professional gatherings, conferences and fairs.

An important contribution to the project is also made by the project partners - the STEAM SHOW association, Čavle Primary School, Dobriša Cesarić Primary School in Osijek, Prečko Primary School in Zagreb and Vladimir Nazor Primary School in Budinščina. Thanks to this network of partners, the project activities are carried out in different parts of Croatia and are accessible to children and young people from many local communities.

The project runs from 12 March 2025 to 12 March 2028. Its total value is EUR 299,990.53, of which 85% is financed from the European Social Fund Plus and the remaining 15% from the State Budget of the Republic of Croatia. The project code is SF.2.4.06.04.0122.
