STEMerica moves on: a Night of Museums full of science, play and discovery

The “STEMerica moves on” project brings exciting STEM workshops as part of the Night of Museums 2026, with the aim of encouraging children's curiosity, creativity and problem-solving through play, exploration and hands-on experience. The STEM activities are carried out as part of the “STEMerica moves on” project, organised by the FabLab association, following the STEM show model - dynamic, interactive and inspiring for the youngest participants.

Grobnik - heritage, art and knowledge

Date and time: 30 January 2026, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Address: Centre for Creativity and the Popularisation of Science - Town of Grobnik, Trg Zrinskih i Frankopana 1

As part of the programme Night of Museums Grobnik - heritage, art and knowledge, organised by the Chakavian Assembly Chair of Grobnišćina and the Municipality of Čavle, visitors can look forward to attractive STEM workshops through the “STEMerica moves on” project, with an emphasis on cryptography. Visitors will be able to take part in a STEM show, where science will be at their fingertips through demonstrations and challenges that encourage logical thinking. The little school of cryptography teaches about the Enigma, secret messages and code-breaking, while in the forensics corner visitors will examine fingerprints and learn the basics of scientific investigation. In addition to these educational activities, visitors will also be surprised by an exhibition of LEGO models showing creative combinations of technology, design and imagination, all accompanied by further attractions that will enrich the experience and provide fun for the whole family.

The workshops are designed so that children take an active part, ask questions, solve tasks and learn through experience. By using interesting cryptographic exhibits and hands-on challenges, STEM content becomes understandable, entertaining and stimulating - ideal for the first steps into the world of science and technology.

Zagreb - the science workshop A Trace in the Ink

Date and time: 30 January 2026, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Address: Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, Savska cesta 18, Zagreb.

As part of the Night of Museums organised by the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, the forensic workshop „A Trace in the Ink, which is part of the “STEMerica moves on” project, is being held. The workshop is interactive and entertaining, it encourages logical thinking, curiosity and teamwork, and scientific concepts are brought closer to children in an understandable and exciting way.

Children become little investigators and immerse themselves in the world of scientific investigation through two connected activities. Fingerprint analysis means learning about the uniqueness of prints and linking traces to a fictional case. Paper chromatography means discovering which pen was used to write a mysterious message.

The workshop is interactive and entertaining, it encourages logical thinking, curiosity and teamwork, and scientific concepts are brought closer to children in an understandable and exciting way.

STEM workshops adapted for children offer a fantastic opportunity to learn through play and exploration. Children will develop problem-solving skills, encouraging logical thinking and creativity. These activities inspire future scientists, engineers and researchers, allowing them to have fun while they learn. On top of that, all the workshops are free and take place as part of the Night of Museums, creating the perfect setting for a family outing and discovering the world of science together.

The STEMerica moves on project is implemented under the grant call „Strengthening the capacity of civil society organisations to promote STEM“ (project code SF.2.4.06.04.0122), co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus and the Office for Cooperation with NGOs of the Government of the Republic of Croatia.

See you in Grobnik and Zagreb  because science is at its most exciting when we discover it together!
